SUICIDE AWARENESS WEEK

At the Professional Remodeling Collective, we are deeply committed to the well-being of our workforce. In support of Construction Suicide Prevention Week, observed annually in early September, we join the industry-wide initiative to raise awareness about mental health challenges in construction and remodeling.

Why This Matters

The construction industry faces a critical mental health crisis. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, construction workers are over four times more likely to die by suicide than the general population, and the suicide rate is over five times higher than all other construction-related fatalities combined.

Factors such as long hours, job insecurity, physical strain, and a culture that often stigmatizes mental health contribute to this alarming trend. It’s imperative that we, as an industry, address these issues head-on.

Our Commitment

During Construction Suicide Prevention Week, we pledge to:

  • Educate: Provide resources and training to recognize warning signs of mental distress.
  • Support: Foster an environment where open conversations about mental health are encouraged.
  • Act: Implement policies and practices that prioritize mental well-being alongside physical safety. Weekly Safety+1Construction Suicide Prevention+1

How You Can Participate

Companies and individuals can make a difference by:

  • Hosting Toolbox Talks: Discuss mental health topics during regular safety meetings.
  • Displaying Resources: Share information about the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and other support services.
  • Creating Safe Spaces: Encourage a workplace culture where employees feel comfortable seeking help. Weekly Safety
